Saten is one of the coolest tea shops in Tokyo. The atmosphere is on point, with lots of natural light, comfy seats, and classy tea-colored decor. Just like at a quality coffee shop, single-origin teas can be ordered in a variety of preparations, from traditional to modern (aero press tea? yes!). Satén also has one of the best Matcha lattes in Tokyo, using high-quality, unsweetened matcha, and complete with latte art that can rival espresso drinks. The matcha pudding is also a must-try and will blow you away with its richness and silky texture. If you're at all a fan of tea or matcha, Satén should definitely go on your must-visit-in-Tokyo list!
Yojiya Cafe is a very famous cosmetic brand in Japan, few people know they also have a cafe. In Tokyo, there is a branch in Shibuya's Hikarie (by Shibuya station) or right in Haneda airport.
True to their brand, they offer a slick, and elegant Japanese decor, this time with great food and great matcha lattes! They put their beautiful and simple logo on the matcha and cafe lattes.
Their cafes in Kyoto are particularly beautiful and impressive! You can enjoy the taste of Kyoto in Tokyo.
nana's green tea
Nana's green tea has a few locations all over Japan and Tokyo, and it is a lovely place to go for lunch or have a sweets set. For lunch, for around ¥1000, you get a main dish, some sweets and a matcha drink or coffee. Their matcha latte is really good and has the right balance of bitterness, and it's one of the rare places where you can have your matcha latte with no sugar. They have a mean matcha parfait if you're looking for a sugar kick. It's really good too!
Deus Ex Machina
I simply can't get over how cool this Tokyo cafe is: the slick elegance, the creative artistic flavour, and the delicious coffee and sweets. It operates as a cafe until the evening, then it becomes a bar. The second floor is a brand store, and the basement is an art gallery.
It can get a little crowded, due to its popularity, so we suggest going outside of peak hours if you can!
How cool is their matcha latte! And it's delicious too!
Streamer Coffee Company
Streamer Coffee Company is where all the cool kids go out to play. It isn't so surprising since they have the perfect formula: good location in Tokyo(Shibuya, Harajuku, Meguro, etc.), great food/coffee, beautiful setting, and, their baristas are latte artists.
Have you tried the military latte? It's only available at the Shibuya branch. It's a matcha latte, with a shot of espresso and some white chocolate. It's sure to stimulate you and your taste buds! Give it a shot (pun intended!) Matcha and white chocolate, it's kinda hard to go wrong on that one!
Ippodo tea store Tokyo
Ippodo Tea Co. is originally from Kyoto, but now has branches in Tokyo and even New York! Customers can come in to buy tea or they can also come in for a tea class and a tea room! It is definitely on the high-end side, but it is a worthy experience. A matcha set with dessert start at 1,300 yen.
Chachanoma is located 6 minutes away from Meiji Jingumae station, and a Japanese tea sommelier will serve you the best Japanese tea and desserts. In summer, they serve kakigori, a Japanese staple dessert, flavoured with various types of Japanese tea. But, their most popular is the Strawberry Matcha Tiramisu Kakigori, which comes with a matcha flavoured shaved ice and 4 other toppings. The toppings include matcha sauce, mascarpone sauce, strawberry tiramisu cream and matcha powder. You can also get matcha tiramisu or parfaits!
Have you ever tried take-out Japanese tea before? Located 4 minutes away by walk from the Ghibli Museum bus station, this place not only offers coffee but various kinds of Japanese tea. They have limited edition flavours as well, so you should visit often! Their matcha latte has a really nice balance of bitter and sweet, and the cafe itself is lovely. You don't really feel as though you are in Kyoto anymore since you are almost in the middle of the forest!
Last but not least! Starbucks is a classic when you think of matcha latte. And they also have interesting seasonal sweets and drinks. Have you tried some of their seasonal drinks, such as the matcha frappuccino with a chocolate cake inside? It's as decadent as it gets!!! They also have matcha doughnuts, matcha chiffon cakes, and matcha scones! That's some matcha goodness!
