Yamawarau

This is a casual dining restaurant of pretty good quality. The interior is modern Japanese Japanese, with a prominently large counter, as is often the case at sukiyaki/shabu shabu restaurants. It's a good choice for people who are eating alone for the reason. If you come in group, they can sit you at a table.

For something a bit high-end, you might want to try their popular evening 'Tokyo Wagyu' course (¥4,800). It's actually made from a brand of wagyu beef from the town of Akigawa, which is technically in Tokyo, at the far western end of Tokyo Prefecture. The meat is really tender and juicy. You can have that course either sukiyaki or shabu shabu-style.

Kintan

This is a very interesting restaurant if you're already a sukiyaki/shabu shabu fan and you're looking for something original. The restaurant specializes in serving rare beef cuts such as beef tongues, aged meats, and also pork cuts. They have impressive evening courses that start at ¥6,980, but the lunch options are much cheaper (weekly lunch at just ¥1,000).

The atmosphere of the restaurant resembles the one you would find at a traditional, elegant Kyoto house.

Yamato

Yamato specilizes in cuisine made with premium Yamato pork, a Japanese pork brand widely recognized for its superior taste. The modern Japanese decor is beautiful and calming so this place is highly recommended for a nice evening dinner.

The cuisine is not sukiyaki or shabu shaub per se, but they do have similar and equaly delectable 'nabe' (hotpot) courses from ¥3,500.

Shabuzen Shiwa

This is a cozy, house-like restaurant of long-standing with an authentic Japanese atmosphere. The specialty here is pork as well as seafood that you can have in a shabu shabu. It's a bit on the expensive side at about ¥8,000 for dinner but it's excellent value for the price. The pork is of the highest quality; you can tell by the outstanding marbling.

Also, they specilize in wines so make sure to ask for their recommended pairing if you plan on drinking with your meal.

Suginoko

This is an overall solid choice if you want to eat Japanese black pork to your heart's desire without spending a fortune. Japanese black pork is known for its natural sweetness and savory umami.

They have all-you-can-eat options from ¥3,500 for lunch and from ¥4,000 for dinner. You can also add an all-you-can-drink option to that for an extra ¥1,500.
