Marvelous Miso Soup
MISOJYU's special 'Tonjiru' (pork miso soup)
Miso soup is one of the indispensable dishes that Japanese people eat every day (sometimes multiple times per day). It's a simple yet versatile side dish that can be prepared in countless ways. At MISOJYU, however, the miso soups are the focus of the meal. The soups are filled with high-quality fresh vegetables and meat (except for the vegan option) and become more than just a side to eat with rice. Made with a mixture of various selected misos (as shown below) they stand on their own as beautiful works of soup art that are absolutely delicious.
MISOJYU's special mix of miso
MISOJYU offers 5 different types of miso soup to choose from: 2 "regular" varieties and 3 "special" varieties. No matter which you choose, you'll not be disappointed by the depth and richness of flavor. Our recommendations are the 'Tonjiru' pork miso soup with a large chunk of beautifully tender braised pork belly, or the soymilk and scallop 'Miso Potage,' which is wonderfully creamy and flavorful. Any of the soups are generously sized and crammed with ingredients, so you shouldn't feel disappointed by the volume by any means! A vegan option is also available, so no need to worry if you've got a vegan in your party.
Onigiri is another food that is most often eaten as part of a lunch box or as a quick snack. At MISOJYU, the onigiri are given an extra touch that elevates them to the next level. You'll definitely be able to tell the difference between these and the onigiri that can be purchased at the conbini. MISOJYU's are fresh and loaded with top-quality ingredients including organic dried tea leaves, pickled plum, salmon, spicy tuna, and more.
Onigiri can be purchased individually, or made into a set that comes with a soup, half a flavored hard-boiled egg, 2 sides, and pickles for ¥1,280 or ¥1,380, depending on whether you get a regular or special soup.
For breakfast (until 10:00 am), a ¥600 breakfast set that includes a soup, an onigiri, half an egg, and pickles is also available! For ¥600, breakfast doesn't get much better than this!
2nd Floor Dining Space
MISOJYU is a small space with room for individual diners to eat on the first floor and a cozy second-floor dining area that is suitable for groups! The whole restaurant is stylish and relaxing and it's a great place to take a break from the crowds of Asakusa.
