Yakitori Chef from Ugly Delicious Has a New Restaurant Called Kodama

Meguro

The incredible yakitori that David Chang ate on an episode of the Netflix show 'Ugly Delicious' was at a restaurant called 'Masakichi.' However, the chef has since opened a new restaurant in a different part of Tokyo called 'Yakitori Kodama,' and that's the place to go if you want to try the chicken that made David Chang cry.

You might've seen the episode of David Chang's Netflix show 'Ugly Delicious,' where David eats yakitori in a small Tokyo restaurant called 'Masakichi' and is brought to tears by the deliciousness of the chicken skewers. The chef who cooked the yakitori was Masahiko Kodama, who is well known for his skills on the grill. Many people hoping to try the famous yakitori for themselves still travel to Masakichi every day. However, what few people realize is that chef Kodama has since moved on to a new restaurant, opening 'Yakitori Kodama' in the nearby Sangenjaya neighborhood in April of 2018. The yakitori at Masakichi is still great, but supposedly it's not the same without Kodama there to cook it.

Those hoping to get a taste of the same yakitori that so moved David Chang should instead head to 'Yakitori Kodama,' where chef Kodama can be found working every day. It's slightly pricer, but worth it for the experience of eating the yakitori prepared by this great chef.

The after-yakitori bowl of soba is to die for!
Dinner at Kodama is a course that runs ¥6,000 per person and includes appetizers, yakitori, pickles, roasted vegetables, noodles, and dessert! It's a pretty awesome meal that is totally worth it.

Word is getting out about Chef Kodama's move to the new restaurant and it has become quite popular. If you plan to have dinner here, it's definitely recommended to make a reservation in advance.

Yakitori Kodama is located 10 minutes away from Sangenjaya Station in the southern part of Tokyo.
