Feel free to follow favy!

Kotaro (高太郎) is a wonderful izakaya tucked away in Shibuya's mysterious and exciting small streets. Because of this, it is a little hard to find, but once you do, you'll really feel like you're living it up like a local.
Kotaro is a modern izakaya run by Chef Kotaro Hayashi and his team. If you are unsure as to what to order, you can sit at the counter and ask for the Chef's 'omakase', which literally means "leaving it up to the chef to choose the dishes." You'll have the chance to taste a variety of creative twists on Japanese classic izakaya dishes.

There are so many dishes to choose from, a lot of which change daily, but there are also some staples. The dish shown above is a classic here! It's a potato salad with a smoked soft-boiled egg and a mustard sauce to top it all off.
The dish shown above is marinated oysters drizzles in sesame oil. This dish is the perfect accompaniment to a nice glass of sake.
The gratin dish is adapted to integrate seasonal vegetables, such as taro root or bamboo shoots.
There are many fresh salads to choose from, such as this parsley and whitebait (baby sardine) salad. It is surprisingly simple, yet delightful. The chef uses the right combination of ingredients to bring out the best taste.
This cold udon dish is very popular, especially in Tokyo's gruesome heat. It is the perfect dish when you have "natsubate" (feeling down because of the heat) and you don't have much of an appetite, and it, of course, it goes perfectly with a nice glass of cold beer.
You should definitely try one of their wonderful desserts, such as this gâteau au chocolat with ginger ice cream. It is the perfect way to end a delicious meal and it is just the right size

If you want to try a wonderful izakaya right in the heart of Tokyo, which is mostly frequented by local patrons, then this is the place to go. You'll have the chance to try upscale and modern Japanese cuisine. Enjoy!
