5 Bars In Yokohama With Jaw-Dropping Night Views


With its harbour, modern skyscrapers, and emblematic Ferris wheel, The night cityscape of Yokohama is arguably the best in Japan. If you want to enjoy it while having some drinks and food, here are some of the best open terraces, rooftop bars, and summer beer gardens to enjoy the night view in Yokohama.

Sky Cafe スカイカフェ

You'll be hard-pressed to find a place with a better view of Yokohama than this place because it is located on the 69th floor (at 273 meters from the ground!) of the tallest building in the city. Although not an open-air cafe bar, it has a breathtaking view of Minatomirai from the large windows and if you go there on a clear day, you can even see Mount Fuji. The downside to this place is that it closes fairly early, at 21:00 or 22:00 depending on the time of year. To get premium sofa seat oriented towards the windows with the best view, the price is 3,700 which includes 2 hours of free-flowing alcohol. The regular seats are ¥2,700. This is a very popular date spot.


Opened during the summer only, this bar located on the 7th floor of the Grand Oriental Minato Mirai has one of the best views of the Ocean and the port cityscape of Yokohama. It's a good place to have cocktails and tapas. This rooftop bar is popular with women, in particular, and is also a good date spot.


This BBQ terrace is on the 9th floor of the Yokohama Midtown Lumine building. Every table has a grill. Courses with free-flowing alcohol start at ¥3,500. They serve fresh vegetables grown domestically and good quality meats. This is a very good choice for large group gatherings.

Star Hotel Yokohama Beer Garden スターホテル横浜 屋上ビアガーデン

This beer garden is also open only during the summer season. Located near Yokohama's Chinatown, from the rooftop terrace you get a beautiful view of Minatomirai, the Yamashita Park and the port of Yokohama. With an all-you-can-drink option, the price is about ¥4,000.

Minatomirai Blue Light Beer Garden

Open only during the summer season, the terrace is right next to the impressive training ship Nippon Maru that was built in 1930. Although on the ground, you still get a beautiful night view of the city. Every course has an all-you-can-drink option. You can have some self-served wine that you pour directly from a casket. As for the food, pizzas and paellas are supposed to be good. Expect to pay around ¥4,000 to ¥5,000 for a food and drink course.
