KYOTO GATTEN is located at the entrance of Pontocho in Kyoto. Right after its opening, it became the talk of the town because of the novelty of the style of the restaurant. There, you can have some tempura, some fresh sushi that comes directly from the market, some local sake, and some shabu shabu style meat. All that in an atmosphere that is quite casual. You get to have some typical Japanese foods that will remind you of a particular season. For example, for winter, you can have some wagyu shabu shabu!
In this course you get some wagyu shabu shabu, 3 types of tempura, 6 kinds of sashimi, a Ceasar salad, edamame, udon noodles and mochi!
For the wagyu sukiyaki, you first boil the vegetables in the wagyu beef broth.
Then you can spread the wagyu pieces over the pot, covering the surface entirely.
Enjoy your wagyu by dipping it in GATTEN's own original dipping sauce which has some hot peppers in it.
Lastly, add some udon noodles to your dish and enjoy your sukiyaki to the last drop!
There are plenty of original drinks you can try made by mixing sake with matcha and seasonal fruits for instance.
