The Ultimate Guide To The Best 10 Cafes In Okinawa!


Here is the list of the 10 best cafes to try in Okinawa, from Hawaiian to Thai, and Jamaican cuisine, we of course also included the restos with the best view. Which ones will you try!

Depending on what you are looking for, we broke down the categories into 2 groups:

#1-6: Restaurants with a great view
#7-10: Restaurants with exotic cuisine (Thai, Hawaiian, Cajun, etc.)

1) Transit Cafe

This beautiful cafe is located by the seaside and the view is simply breathtaking!
If you're craving something sweet, they have the most beautiful desserts, such as the chocolate brownie sundae with fruits and nuts. Yum!
For lunch, you can a lunch set for between 1,000-1,500 yen!

2) Seaside Cafe Hanon

Hanon in Japanese means the sound of the waves. At Hanon, you can sit at the terrace and watch the ocean while hearing the waves crash onto the shore, what a peaceful experience!
The motto of this resto is "Okinawa meets Hawaii" so they serve all sorts of Hawaiian inspired dishes, pancakes being their specialty! As a die-hard fan of pancakes and of salted caramel, my heart skipped a beat when I saw "salted caramel pancake" on the menu and it didn't disappoint! The pancakes were fluffy and the caramel was just right. Am I in pancake heaven?

3) Cafe Kurukuma

The restaurant has a stunning view as it sits at a height of 130 meters. You can enjoy the ocean view while enjoying your Asian dining. It's a Thai restaurant with an Okinawan touch. The tom yum soup and Thai green curry are really tasty!
You can have drinks on the terrace for an unforgettable experience.

4) Cafe Terrace Nirai

Cafe Terrace Nirai serves Italian cuisine in a beautiful setting. They have a really diverse menu, the pizza, and pasta are particularly nice. For dessert, you should try the raw cheesecake. You can enjoy the view while looking at the ocean, it's hard to ask for anything more.

5) Cafe Green Green

This quaint cafe offers delicious food with a beautiful view. Everybody comes for their apple pie a la mode, and it's no wonder since it's so great! The green curry is also worth the detour!

6) Green River Cafe

Green River Cafe has an amazing view, you'll feel like you're in the middle of the jungle. At night, there are live bands playing which makes for a really fun and lively atmosphere!
This place specializes in Filipino cuisine, if you'd like to try it, this is the place to go! There is also Italian cuisine!

7) Cafe Orleans

This tiny restaurant serves authentic Cajun cuisine and the staff is extremely helpful and welcoming. Even if the restaurant is full and the staff is busy, the owner will always stop by to ask if everything is to your liking. That extra attention really doesn't go unnoticed.
You should try the muffuletta, the gumbo and the po-boys!

8) Bamboo Cafe

This Jamaican resto is famous for their jerk chicken! They also serve a mean jerk salmon which is cooked on the grill.
They're open late and their burgers start at 350 yen! Great and cheap! That's quite hard to beat!

9) Hale Noa Cafe

Hale Noa Cafe specializes in Hawaiian cuisine, and since it's open from 7 am to 3 PM, it's mostly breakfast or lunch. The eggs benedict with salmon are really awesome, and so are the pancakes! Their french toast is also really on point! If you want great brunch, this is the place!

10) Kaiholo Cafe

Breakfast for under 1,000 yen? Yes, and it's hella good too! How about a breakfast plate for 700 yen!! It comes with pancakes or toast.
Also, it's pet-friendly, so if you happen to be traveling with your pet, it's A-OK!
Delicious and cheap, now that hits the sweet spot!
